Nutritional Counseling

What is Nutritional Counseling?

While brushing and flossing are incredibly beneficial to the health of your teeth, what you eat and drink on a regular basis can contribute to dental problems. A diet full of sugar and carbs can lead to tooth decay, and late night snacking can create problems with both cavities and gum disease. We offer nutritional counseling to help shine a light onto your current diet and changes that you can make to improve your eating habits. This counseling is available to all of our patients regardless of age, gender or weight.

Why is Nutritional Counseling important?

The problem with eating a diet that is full of sugar is that it isn’t just detrimental to your overall health, but to the health of your teeth as well. The bacteria in your mouth thrive on sugar, which causes them to multiply rapidly. This can lead to problems with excessive plaque, cavities, gingivitis and gum disease. Kids and adults often both have poor diets, especially in this fast-paced world that we live in. However, in order to save your smile and prevent a future of dental treatments, proper nutrition is key.
