Once a child is able to brush without swallowing, it is recommended that a parent use a pea size amount of fluoride toothpaste to brush. Drinking tap water is a great way for a child to get fluoride. Professional fluoride application is recommended at each cleaning appointment, every 6 months. For kids that are high risk in getting cavities, profession fluoride applications are recommended every 3 months.
